Your business vanished from Google Maps, edits won't save, or you got an email about a policy violation. Quick answer

Sign in with your owner account and search your business name on Google or open Business Profile Manager. A suspended or disabled profile shows a notice such as "Your profile is suspended", "Disabled" or "Your Business Profile isn't visible to customers", often with an appeal link. Customers may no longer find you on Maps, or may see limited information. Check your email for messages from Google, note the reason given, fix any guideline issue first (name, address, category, duplicates), then appeal with evidence. Don't create a new profile.

Quick answer: Sign in with your owner account and search your business name on Google or open Business Profile Manager.

A sudden drop in calls or a customer saying "your shop isn't on Google any more" is often the first sign (views dropped).

How to check your status

  1. Sign in to the Google account that owns the profile.
  2. Search your exact business name on Google, or open Business Profile Manager on a computer.
  3. Look for a red or grey notice near the top of the management panel.
  4. Check your email (including spam) for messages from Google Business Profile.

Status meanings

Suspended

Google has found or suspects a guideline violation. The profile may be hidden from Maps and Search, or visible but unmanageable (suspended — fix, suspend ho gaya (Hindi)).

Disabled

Often relates to policy issues with the profile or account; editing and visibility are restricted (disabled vs suspended).

Unverified or needs verification

The profile isn't verified, or needs re-verification after edits (re-verification, unverified business).

Edits pending or not live

Your changes are under review, but the profile isn't suspended (edits pending).

Review restrictions

New reviews are temporarily blocked due to suspicious activity (fake review warning).

What customers notice

  • Your business doesn't appear when they search your name (not showing in search).
  • Directions or calls from Maps stop.
  • Reviews and photos are missing.
  • A different listing (perhaps a duplicate) appears instead.

Common causes

First steps

  1. Read the reason in the notice or email.
  2. Fix guideline issues — real signboard name, correct address, accurate category.
  3. Gather evidence: signboard photos, interior photos, GST or shop licence, utility bill, a video (GST and Udyam, video verification).
  4. Appeal through the link provided, once, with clear evidence.
  5. Wait — appeals can take days to weeks.

Don't make it worse

  • Don't create a new profile.
  • Don't keep editing while under review.
  • Don't submit multiple appeals at once.
  • Don't buy "suspension recovery" services that ask for your password.

Prevent future suspensions

Follow the guidelines consistently and keep evidence ready (suspension prevention checklist).

Check visibility as a customer

Owners sometimes see their profile normally while customers can't. Search your business name on a phone not signed in to your account, or ask a friend in another area to search. Check Maps and Search separately. If customers can't find you while your management panel shows no notice, the profile may be filtered or affected by a duplicate rather than suspended (filtered listings).

Keep customers informed meanwhile

While you work on an appeal, make sure customers can still reach you: update your website, Instagram and WhatsApp status with your address and phone, and tell regular customers on WhatsApp. Ask them to save your number directly. Suspensions usually end, but sales shouldn't stop while you wait.

Example: a keyword name suspension

A coaching centre added "Best NEET Coaching Kota" to its name and was suspended within days. It reverted to the real signboard name, appealed with signage photos and its registration, and was reinstated in about a week.

Example: a service-area home address

An electrician's profile showed his home address although he served customers at their homes. It was suspended. After hiding the address, setting service areas and appealing with a video of his van and tools, the profile was restored.

Checklist

  • Check status from the owner account
  • Read Google's email or notice
  • Fix name, address, category and duplicates
  • Gather evidence
  • Appeal once with evidence
  • Don't create a new profile
  • Keep customers informed

Key takeaways

  • The management panel and Google's emails show your status.
  • Fix the violation before appealing.
  • Evidence and patience restore most legitimate profiles.

Suspension vs ranking drop

A ranking drop isn't a suspension. If your profile still appears when you search your exact name but doesn't show for category searches, you're probably facing a ranking or filtering issue, not a suspension (ranking dropped, why rankings fluctuate). Treat them differently: appeals are for suspensions; relevance and reviews fix rankings.

Who to contact

Use the appeal link in your profile notice first. For complex cases, contact Google Business Profile support through the help centre, with your profile name, address, the date the problem started and your evidence. Keep a record of case IDs and replies.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my profile is suspended?

A notice appears in your management panel, and Google usually emails you.

Can customers see a suspended profile?

Often not, or only with limited information.

How long does an appeal take?

Days to a few weeks.

Should I make a new profile?

No — it can make things worse.

What evidence helps?

Signboard and interior photos, registrations, bills and a video.

Why did my profile disappear without a notice?

It may be filtered, a duplicate issue or pending edits — check carefully.
