You added products to your Google Business Profile but they don't appear on Maps or Search, disappeared after a few days, or show "Not approved". Quick answer
Products may not show because they are still being reviewed, were rejected for policy reasons (restricted items like medicines, alcohol, tobacco or weapons; misleading prices; low-quality or text-heavy images; links to unrelated pages), your category doesn't display products prominently, or Google is showing products from Merchant Center or your website instead. Check each product's status in the editor, fix rejected items with a clear product photo, accurate name and price, and a working link, and re-add them. Retail stores can also connect Google Merchant Center to show in-stock products.
Quick answer: Products may not show because they are still being reviewed, were rejected for policy reasons (restricted items like medicines, alcohol, tobacco or weapons; misleading prices; low-quality or text-heavy images; links to unrelated pages), your category doesn't display products prominently, or Google is showing products from Merchant Center or your website instead. Products help customers see what you sell before they visit. When they vanish, it's usually a review or policy issue, and it can be fixed.
How products work on your profile
You can add products in Edit profile → Products. Each has a name, category (section), photo, price or price range, description and optional button. Products may appear in a "Products" tab or carousel on mobile and desktop (products and services, services vs products).
Reason 1: still under review
New or edited products are reviewed. This can take hours to a few days. Check the product status; "Pending" means wait.
Reason 2: rejected for policy
Common causes:
- Restricted or prohibited items: prescription medicines, alcohol, tobacco and vapes, weapons, adult products, some financial products. Pharmacies and liquor stores often can't list these items as products.
- Misleading prices: a ₹1 price to attract clicks, or prices that don't match the item.
- Poor images: blurry, text-heavy, collages, stock images with watermarks, or logos instead of products.
- Wrong links: a button pointing to an unrelated or broken page.
- Duplicate items: the same product added many times with keyword variations.
- Keyword stuffing: names like "Best cheap mobile shop Ahmedabad Samsung Vivo".
Fix the issue and re-add the product.
Reason 3: category display
Some categories show products prominently, others mainly show services or menus. A restaurant's dishes belong in the menu, not products (menu not showing). A service business may see services shown instead.
Reason 4: other product sources take over
If you use Google Merchant Center with local inventory, or Google detects products from your website, those may appear instead of, or alongside, manually added products. Check what Google shows publicly before assuming your products are missing.
Reason 5: profile issues
Suspended, unverified or pending profiles may hide products (edits pending, disabled vs suspended).
How to add products that get approved
- Photo: one clear product on a plain background, good light, no text overlays (phone photography tips).
- Name: what the customer calls it — "Samsung Galaxy A35 5G 8/128GB" or "Kaju Katli (500 g)".
- Category/section: group items — "Smartphones", "Sweets", "Sarees".
- Price: actual price or a range; update when it changes.
- Description: features, sizes, material, availability.
- Button: "Call", "Order online" or "Learn more" to a working page.
Add your 10–30 most popular items rather than hundreds.
Restricted-category businesses
Pharmacies, liquor shops and tobacco sellers can't list many items. Focus on permitted products (health supplements and personal care for pharmacies, accessories and snacks for others), services ("home delivery", "prescription refills" described carefully) and posts that follow policy (pharmacy guide).
Merchant Center for retailers
Shops with many products can use Google Merchant Center to upload a product feed and show local inventory ("in stock nearby") in search. It's more work, but useful for electronics, furniture, sports and fashion stores.
Alternatives when products won't show
- Posts with product photos and prices (posts guide).
- Photos labelled by product.
- Website product pages with prices.
- WhatsApp catalogue linked from your profile (WhatsApp catalogue).
Example: a mobile shop
A mobile shop's products were rejected repeatedly. The names were stuffed with keywords and the images were promotional banners. After renaming products to model names, using clean phone photos and adding prices, most were approved within two days.
Example: a pharmacy
A pharmacy listed prescription medicines as products, and all were rejected. It switched to listing baby care, supplements and medical devices, and described home delivery as a service. The products were approved.

Keep products up to date
Old products with old prices cause the same arguments as old menus. Each month:
- Remove items you no longer stock.
- Update prices that have changed.
- Add new arrivals with fresh photos.
- Check that every button link still works.
Seasonal shops should rotate products ahead of each season: school bags in May, rakhis in August, crackers and gift hampers before Diwali, woollens in November. Fresh products also give you something new to post about.
Where customers see products
On a phone, products often appear as a horizontal carousel in the overview or under a "Products" tab. Tapping one opens the details and button. If customers say they can't find your products, send them a screenshot of where to look. Make your first few products your best sellers, since they're seen most.
