Quick answer
Post at least once a week (daily is better) with one real photo, a short hook, a useful message about one product or service, your area name used naturally, and a clear call to action like "Call now" or "Visit today". Keep it under 1,500 characters, avoid phone numbers and links in the text, and never post misleading prices or offers.

Google Posts are short updates that appear on your Business Profile. They keep your profile fresh, give customers a reason to choose you today, and show Google that the business is active.
Do posts help ranking?
Posts are not among the very top ranking factors in expert surveys, but they help in three ways:
- Freshness — a profile with recent activity looks alive to customers and to Google.
- Conversions — a good post with a photo turns a "maybe" into a call.
- Relevance — posts about specific services give Google and AI search more context about what you offer.
Types of posts
| Type | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Update | News, tips, new products, festival greetings, behind the scenes |
| Offer | Genuine time-bound discounts with clear terms |
| Event | Workshops, launches, sale days with a start and end date |
Anatomy of a great post
- Photo — your own photo is best. If you use a design, keep text minimal and correct.
- Hook (first line) — what makes someone stop: "Fresh Diwali gift boxes are ready".
- Body — one message, 60–120 words. Mention the service and your area naturally.
- Call to action — Call, Book, Order, Learn more, or "Visit us today".
Example (sweet shop)
Diwali gift boxes are ready! Our kaju katli, motichoor ladoo and dry-fruit barfi are made fresh every morning at our Kalawad Road shop. Choose a ready box or build your own for family and office. Visit today or call to reserve your boxes before the rush.
Rules to avoid rejected posts
- No phone numbers in the text — use the Call button instead.
- No misleading claims, "No.1" claims you cannot prove, or fake urgency.
- No offensive content, no ALL CAPS shouting.
- Respect Google's restricted content (for example, some health and alcohol claims).
- Make sure any offer is real and the terms are stated.
How often to post
At least one post per week. Businesses that post daily keep a constantly fresh profile and give customers new reasons to visit. Consistency beats intensity: 4 posts every month for a year is better than 30 posts in one week.

Frequently asked questions
How long should a Google post be?
Google allows up to 1,500 characters, but 60–150 words performs best — customers read the first lines on their phone.
Can I put my phone number in a post?
Avoid it. Posts with phone numbers are often rejected; your profile already has a Call button.
Do Google posts expire?
Posts stay on your profile, but newer posts push older ones down, and offers and events end on their end date. Post regularly so there is always something recent.
Should I post the same thing on Instagram?
You can reuse the idea, but Google posts should be informative and local, without hashtags. Instagram posts can be more casual.
Can I schedule posts?
Google's own tools have limited scheduling. Chamko schedules and publishes posts automatically every day.
