Quick answer
Open your profile → Edit profile and change the field. Small edits (hours, phone, website, description) usually go live within minutes to a day. Core edits — name, address and primary category — are reviewed more carefully and can trigger re-verification. Change core details only when they really changed in the real world, update your signboard and website first, make one change at a time, and keep proof ready.

Your Google details must match reality. But careless editing — especially repeated name or address changes — is one of the most common triggers for review holds and suspensions.
How to edit anything
Phone: Google Maps app → profile photo → Your Business Profile → Edit profile. Computer: search your business name while signed in → Edit profile, or use business.google.com.
Changes show "Under review" until approved.
Changing your business name
Allowed when your real business name changes (rebranding, new owner). Before you edit:
- Change the signboard, bills, GST/registration and website first.
- Take a clear photo of the new signboard.
- Edit the name to exactly match the new signboard — no extra keywords (name rules).
- Upload the new signboard photo.
Expect a review; you may be asked to re-verify.
Changing your address (moving)
- Update the address and drag the pin to the new entrance.
- Upload photos of the new shop front.
- Post an update: "We've moved to …".
- Update Justdial, Bing, Facebook, your website and visiting cards — consistent details matter (NAP guide).
A long-distance move may require new verification. Reviews stay with your business.
Changing your phone number
Phone edits usually go through quickly. Also update the number on your website, WhatsApp Business and directories. If you keep the old number active for a few months, forward it so old listings still reach you.
Changing your category
Switching to a more accurate primary category usually helps. Avoid changing it back and forth — each change is a fresh signal Google must evaluate. See the category list.
Hours and special hours
Hours edits are instant in most cases. Set special hours for festivals at least a week before.
Why edits get stuck "under review"
- Many core edits at once (name + address + category).
- The new details don't match what Google sees elsewhere (website, signboard in photos).
- Keywords in the name or a virtual-office address.
- A recent suspension or verification issue.
If an edit is stuck for more than a week, contact support from your dashboard with proof (signboard photo, registration, utility bill).
When Google changes your details
Google sometimes updates details based on user suggestions or other sources, and you'll get a notification. Review it — accept if correct, or edit back with accurate information.
