Quick answer
In your Business Profile, go to Edit profile → Location, correct the address, then drag the map pin onto your actual entrance and save. Changes may need review or re-verification. In areas with unclear addresses, add a nearby landmark in the address line and make sure the pin is precise — customers navigate by the pin, not the text.
Quick answer: In your Business Profile, go to Edit profile → Location, correct the address, then drag the map pin onto your actual entrance and save. Changes may need review or re-verification. In areas with unclear addresses, add a nearby landmark in the address line and make sure the pin is precise — customers navigate by the pin, not the text.
A wrong pin sends customers to the wrong lane, the back of a building or the middle of a road. It also confuses Google about where you are, which affects proximity-based ranking.
How to fix the pin
- Open your Business Profile and choose Edit profile.
- Go to Location → business address.
- Correct the address text.
- Use Adjust pin and drag it to the entrance customers use.
- Save. Check again after the edit is published.
Addresses in India
- Include shop number, building/complex name, road, area, landmark, city, PIN code.
- Use Plus Codes (shown in Google Maps) for places without clear street addresses.
- Keep the same format on your website and directories.
When Google rejects the change
- Large moves may trigger re-verification — have signboard and address proof ready.
- If Google keeps reverting, check whether users or other data sources are suggesting a different address, and update directories with the correct one.
Step-by-step: write an Indian address Google accepts
- Building / shop number and name: "Shop 4, Shree Complex"
- Street or road: "MG Road"
- Area / locality: "Vijay Nagar"
- City, state and pincode: "Indore, Madhya Pradesh 452010"
- Put landmarks ("Opposite Bombay Hospital") in your description and photos, or in the address line only when that is how your official address is written.
Then drag the pin onto the exact entrance, using satellite view to check.
Example: the shop inside a market
A saree shop is on the first floor of a large market. Google showed the pin at the market's main gate, 150 m from the shop's staircase. Customers kept calling for directions. The owner moved the pin to the staircase entrance, added "1st floor, Gate 3 side" to the address, uploaded a photo of the staircase sign, and posted a short "How to find us" update. Calls asking for directions dropped, and direction requests started ending at the right door.
Supporting evidence if Google rejects your edit
- A photo of the signboard with the street visible.
- A utility bill or GST certificate showing the address.
- Photos of the entrance and surroundings.
You can submit these through Business Profile support if repeated edits are rejected.
