Google Business Profile Post Rejected or Not Showing? Reasons and Fixes

Why Google rejects or hides Business Profile posts — phone numbers in text, prohibited content, image problems, links, policy flags — and how to write posts that get approved and seen.

Quick answer

Posts are most often rejected for including a phone number in the text, for prohibited or restricted content (alcohol, tobacco, medicines, financial claims, adult content), for low-quality or text-heavy images, for misleading offers, or for links that break policy. Posts can also be "pending" for a while during review. Remove phone numbers (use the Call button instead), use real photos with little or no text, keep claims honest, and resubmit.

Quick answer: Posts are most often rejected for including a phone number in the text, for prohibited or restricted content (alcohol, tobacco, medicines, financial claims, adult content), for low-quality or text-heavy images, for misleading offers, or for links that break policy. Posts (also called updates) keep your profile fresh and show customers what's new. When one is rejected — often with little explanation — it's frustrating. Here's what usually causes it.

Common reasons posts get rejected

1. Phone numbers in the text

Google's post guidelines discourage phone numbers in the post text; customers should use the Call button. Remove the number and add a "Call now" button instead.

2. Restricted or prohibited content

Content about alcohol, tobacco, gambling, prescription medicines, adult services, weapons or certain financial products may be blocked or restricted. Pharmacies and clinics need to be especially careful with medicine names and health claims.

3. Misleading or exaggerated claims

"100% cure", "guaranteed results", "lowest price in India" — these trigger reviews. Keep offers specific and true.

4. Image problems

  • Text-heavy graphics, posters full of words, or images that are mostly logos.
  • Low resolution, blurry or stretched images.
  • Images unrelated to the business, or stock photos with watermarks.
  • Images with people's faces used without consent.

Use real, clear photos; keep text overlays small. (Chamko's branded templates keep text minimal and the photo dominant.)

Links to unrelated, unsafe or redirecting websites, URL shorteners, or pages that don't match the post can cause rejection. Link to your own site or a relevant page.

6. Repetition and spam signals

Posting the same text many times, or stuffing keywords and city names repeatedly, looks like spam.

7. Profile-level issues

If your profile is suspended, under review or recently edited heavily, posts may not go live until the profile is stable.

"Pending" vs rejected

New posts may show as pending while Google reviews them — often minutes, sometimes longer. If a post stays pending for more than a day or two, try deleting and reposting with a different image and simpler text.

How to write posts that get approved

  • One clear message: new arrival, offer, event, tip.
  • 60–150 words, plain language, the customer's language.
  • A real photo of your product, shop or team.
  • A button: Call, Book, Order online, Learn more.
  • No phone numbers or email addresses in the text.
  • Specific offers with dates ("Till 31 Oct: 10% off on 1 kg sweet boxes").

Frequently asked questions

Do posts expire?

Older posts move down your updates list over time; event and offer posts show dates. Keep posting weekly so there's always something recent.

Why can't I see my post on my profile?

It may still be pending, or Google may show posts in the "Updates" section rather than prominently. Check the post status in your dashboard.

Can I post in Hindi or Gujarati?

Yes. Posting in your customers' language is a great idea.
