A seasonal post is useful only when the business can deliver what it announces. A Diwali creative that remains visible after an offer ends, or a monsoon service post published before staff and supplies are ready, creates avoidable confusion. Build the calendar around operational readiness first and dates second.
Use four planning windows
| Window | Planning question | Example for a local business |
|---|---|---|
| Preparation | What must be confirmed before promotion? | Stock, staff rota, delivery cut-off |
| Announcement | What can customers act on now? | Confirmed festive hamper availability |
| Live period | What changed today? | Updated collection hours or remaining booking slots |
| Close-out | What must be removed or corrected? | Expired price, sold-out item, temporary hours |
Choose relevant moments for the business rather than trying to publish for every festival. A bakery may plan around regional sweets and pre-orders; a salon may focus on appointment capacity before wedding season; an AC repair service may prepare a summer maintenance reminder.
Fill in this calendar before creating artwork
- Business event: the real operational reason for the update.
- Customer decision: order, book, visit, prepare or ask a question.
- Proof required: actual product photo, service setup, event poster or confirmed schedule.
- Offer terms: eligibility, dates, exclusions and stock/capacity limits.
- Owner: person responsible for confirming facts.
- Publish date: only after terms and availability are approved.
- Expiry action: edit, remove or replace the message when it becomes inaccurate.
Choose the right post type
Google documents three post types: Updates, Offers and Events. An offer requires a title and dates/time; events need a title and start/end dates and times. An update is suitable when the business is sharing news rather than a structured discount or dated event. Use the type that matches the real customer action.
Example: a Rajkot clothing store has 40 confirmed pieces in a festive collection. Its post should state what the collection is, when customers can see it, and any genuine availability limit. It should not imply that every size is in stock if the stock sheet says otherwise.
Avoid stale seasonal messages
Assign one person to check posts at the end of the promotion. Google says posts older than six months are archived unless a date range is set, but that is not a reason to leave expired information online for months. Correct it as soon as it stops being true.
A 15-minute weekly review
- Check the next two weeks for offers and events.
- Confirm stock, service capacity and opening arrangements.
- Review the image against the actual offer.
- Check destination links and booking actions.
- Put an expiry reminder on the calendar.
- After publishing, verify that the post is visible and accurate.
The objective is dependable customer information, not a particular publishing frequency. Google does not promise that a festival post or a fixed number of posts improves ranking.
