Google Business Profile for Multiple Branches: Setup and Ranking for Each Location

How Indian businesses with several branches should create, verify and manage a separate Google Business Profile for every location, with consistent branding and local content.

Quick answer

Every branch that customers can visit and that is staffed during business hours should have its own Business Profile with its own address, phone (ideally), hours, photos and reviews. Use the same brand name across branches (adding a locality only if it is part of your real signage), group them in one business account, and give each location local posts and photos.

Quick answer: Every branch that customers can visit and that is staffed during business hours should have its own Business Profile with its own address, phone (ideally), hours, photos and reviews. Use the same brand name across branches (adding a locality only if it is part of your real signage), group them in one business account, and give each location local posts and photos.

Who qualifies for a separate profile?

A location qualifies when it has:

  • A physical address customers can visit
  • Staff present during stated hours
  • Permanent signage

Warehouses, offices customers never visit, and virtual offices do not qualify.

Naming branches

Use your brand name consistently. Google allows branch descriptors only where they reflect real-world branding. "Sharma Sweets" for every branch is safest; "Sharma Sweets – Vijay Nagar" is acceptable when that's how the signboard and branding actually read.

Setup checklist for each branch

Item Per branch
Address & map pin Exact entrance
Phone Local branch number if possible
Hours Branch-specific, including special hours
Photos That branch's exterior, interior, team
Posts Local news and offers
Website link A dedicated location page (e.g. /vijay-nagar/)
Reviews Separate QR posters per branch

Managing many profiles

  • Use one business account and organise branches into location groups.
  • Make the business owner the primary owner of every group; branch managers get manager access.
  • Keep a master sheet of NAP for every branch for citations.

Ranking each branch

Each branch competes in its own neighbourhood. Treat every location like a separate small business: local reviews, local photos, local posts. Chamko manages each business profile on its own dashboard.

Example: a pharmacy chain with 6 stores

A pharmacy chain in Surat set up each store as its own profile in one Business Profile account, using a "location group" so the owner and each store manager could access the right profiles. Each store had:

  • The same brand name ("Shree Medicals") plus no area suffix unless the signboard shows one.
  • Its own local phone number, hours (two stores are 24 hours) and photos of that store.
  • Its own landing page on the website (/stores/adajan/) with address, map, hours and phone.
  • Its own review QR at the counter.

The owner compared Performance across stores each month. Two stores with fewer reviews got a review drive, and their calls rose within a couple of months.

Bulk management tips

  • Use location groups (business groups) for 10+ locations; Google offers bulk verification for chains that qualify.
  • Give each branch manager Manager access to only their own location.
  • Keep a master sheet of every branch's NAP, hours and categories.
  • Schedule special hours for all stores together before festivals.

When NOT to create a separate profile

Don't create profiles for virtual offices, a storage godown customers never visit, or different departments at the same counter. These break Google's guidelines and can lead to suspension.

Frequently asked questions

Can one profile cover all branches?

No. Each branch needs its own profile so customers get the right address, hours and directions.

Should branches share reviews?

They can't — reviews belong to each location.

Can I move a profile to a new address when a branch relocates?

Update the address on the existing profile; you may need to re-verify. Don't create a new profile.
